More severe storms, with damaging winds and large hail, will be approaching the western suburbs of Atlanta Metro before daybreak. They are presently
east of Birmingham, AL and moving nearly due East. A smaller cell has formed ahead of this line and to the northwest of Atlanta in the past half hour.
This cell could strengthen into an isolated supercell given the favorable environment of the atmosphere for additional storm intensification. A StormLab

Quick update from CNN...this does not sound good:
At least 20 homes in Atlanta's historic Cabbagetown neighborhood were flattened by a tornado that ripped through the Georgia capital city Friday night,
a spokeswoman for the mayor said. Firefighters fear there could be people dead inside the ruins of a collapsed loft complex in the same neighborhood.
